“In the first half of the year, various large-scale projects, including the development of station influence areas that can serve as a catalyst for the revival of the original city center, were selected to establish a foundation for the creation of tourism, welfare, innovation and safety cities.

 

First of all, it has produced tangible results by making all-out efforts to secure funds to improve policy conditions and being selected as an excellent financial execution department for the second consecutive year. And then, by promoting regulatory innovation centered on the site and resident, it has led to the achievement that it is the best in the country from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security.

 

With the discovery of new tourism resources and active promotion, the Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Festival and Daecheongho Cherry Blossom Street Marathon were successfully held, and Dong-gu 8 Scenery, a tourist attraction in Dong-gu, and 'Dong-gu 8 Mi(taste)', a representative food item, were selected,”

 

Q. Dong-gu's urban living environment business is in full swing.

 

“The improvement of residential conditions, such as residential environment improvement projects and redevelopment projects, created a better city to live in and improved the quality of life of the residents. The approval for the implementation of the Cheondong District 3 project was completed and compensation was started, and the distribution was completed with the construction of the Sinheung District 3 redevelopment project.

In addition, the Dongbu Expressway, which was the long-cherished desire of the residents, was opened in 10 years to expand urban infrastructure for pleasant living conditions and balanced urban development, and the project to create Daejeon Station Segye-gu Road (expanding Samga-ro, Sinan-dong-gil, and Donggwangjang-gil) is underway.

 

In January last year, it completed the residential environment improvement project (Est City) in Daeshin 2 district and approved the implementation plan for the redevelopment project in Seongnam-dong 1 district in March this year, and approved the establishment of a union for the redevelopment project in Daedong 4‧8.

Recently, it has completed the selection of construction projects for redevelopment projects in Samsung District 4 and Jungang District 1, and nine reconstruction projects, including the construction of Gayang-dong District 2, are being carried out sequentially by the district.

“First of all, the urban regeneration project of Daejeon Station's dosshouse village will be refurbished into a residential, welfare, and business complex in a dosshouse village area of 15,000 square meters, and 215.7 billion won will be spent on the project to ensure housing stability by encouraging residents to settle there again.

 

The project to create a social and economic innovation town is an innovative space for strengthening the role of social and economic organizations and revitalizing the network, with a floor space of 13,305 square meters, and will have four facilities that perform organization, training, experiment and community-friendly functions. The project will last for three years until December 2022, with a total of 31.7 billion won to be spent on state and municipal expenses.

 

At the same time, the Forest of Truth and Reconciliation is being promoted to create a luxury park in order to console the souls of civilians killed in the mountain's Gonryonggol area before and after the Korean War and to inform the historical truth. The total cost of the project will be 40.2 billion won. The second city library will be finalized as the site of the Gayang Library and 29 billion won will be spent on the project, while the Coupang Logistics Center, which will be built within the Namdaejeon(Southern Daejeon) Logistics Complex in Nangwol-dong, will invest 60 billion won in 31,319 square meters of land for two years until 2021, with more than 300 new personnel to be hired first in the region,”

 

Q. The political orientation of the 7th popular election in the second half of the year.

 

“In the second half of the 7th popular election, we listened to the opinions of the residents and expanded the participation of the residents. I will realize 'Happy Dong-gu residents'. In particular, the government selected 'IeCheongDeukSim(以聽得心)'-Listen carefully and win a person's heart- in 2020 to express the will of the residents to actively reflect the wishes of the residents. We will make active efforts to create tangible results for pending projects by gathering various opinions and wisdom.

 

In particular, the government plans to make all-out efforts to prevent the spread of the Corona-community by conducting preemptive and active quarantine measures in preparation for a prolonged war with COVID-19. In addition, the government will actively implement policies to support small business owners and merchants in traditional markets, focusing on revitalizing the local economy, while also making efforts to establish a non-face-to-face system(Untact) in the way they work.

 

In addition, the government will establish an organic cooperation system with the central government and upper-level agencies to attract private investment and public institutions in the region in line with its massive project to develop Daejeon Station areas such as the designation of innovative cities and urban renewal New Deal projects. We will try to solve each of the long-cherished projects of Dong-gu residents, such as attracting private capital from the complex district 2 near Daejeon Station, establishing Daejeon Medical Center, and promoting a project to improve the residential environment of cleaning area,”

Q. Key tasks for the second half of 'Tourism Dong-gu.'

 

“In the second half of the year, we will actively promote tourism infrastructure and tourism promotion projects centered on Daecheong Lake, Manin Mountain, Sangso-dong, and the original city center.

 

In particular, the government plans to set up additional walking decks and facilities on Daecheong Lake Obaek-ri Road and remodel the Hyopyeong branch school to establish eco-tourism community facilities with residents in order to create a hub for eco-tourism centered on Daecheong Lake. In Manin Mountain and Sangso-dong, in the wake of the Daejeon Visit Year, Daejeon citizens will be able to experience dynamic forest adventure at close range through the creation of dynamic forest adventure facilities, and are planning to give them an exciting experience of zipline and luge along with existing camping and forest bathing.

 

If the foundation for the revitalization of tourism in Dong-gu was laid in the first half of the year, I think it is an important time to show tangible results now. Despite the crisis of COVID-19, we will concentrate all our capabilities on completing the tourism district,”

“By fostering the tourism industry, we will create a "rich Dong-gu" by boosting the local economy and increasing jobs. In order to create tangible results that residents can feel in promoting tourism policies, the Tourism, Culture, and Economy Bureau was established through the reorganization. In addition, we will develop tourism content based on research services for comprehensive tourism plans. It also plans to create tourist belts centered on Daecheong Lake, Sikjangsan Mountain, and Maninsan Mountain and utilize the old Hyopyeong Branch Bridge as a forward base for eco-tourism hubs to make Dong-gu a national tourist attraction.

 

It plans to encourage more residents to participate by holding and promoting an audit festival for "Angel's Touch," a representative welfare brand in Dong-gu. In addition, we will actively promote various welfare initiatives such as sharing refrigerators, which were selected as "the target of spreading innovation cases in residents' lives" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ding-dong Laundromat, Excitement Coupon Box, House Repair Volunteer Group, and support for artificial intelligence dolls Hyodol and Hyo-soon for senior citizens living alone. We will actively make efforts to promote measures to ensure that all residents are well-off, including expanding customized care services for the elderly, expanding public jobs for the disabled, reducing the burden of childbirth and increasing subsidies for childbirth, improving the childcare environment, supporting young people's start-ups, and modernizing traditional markets.

In the first half of the 7th popular election, our Dong-gu achieved many achievements and fruits in major areas such as tourism, welfare, urban innovation, and safety. As a result of continuous cooperation with central ministries, Daejeon City, and related agencies, more than 300 billion won was confirmed to be spent on the project in the first half of this year alone. It would be impossible without continued interest from the people of Dong-gu.
