Emphasis on the right person to represent the party, saying, "I will definitely be the party leader responsible for next year's by-elections in Seoul and Busan,..."
Former Minister of Public Administration and Security Kim Bu-Kyum, the next party leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Daejeon on July 17, 2020.
Kim said, "If Daejeon Innovation City is designated, we will attract public institutions that suit the characteristics of the region to help it become an innovative city in name and reality."
Former Minister Kim held a press conference at the press room of the Daejeon City Council and said, "If I become the party leader, I will take care of three pending issues in Daejeon." Following the designation of innovative cities, they include attracting public institutions, expanding public medical facilities such as municipal medical centers, renovating Daedeok Special Zone, and building a Korean-style bio-centered city.
In particular, mentioning the importance of internalization to revitalize the original city center, he stressed the importance of attracting public institutions that fit the nature of Daejeon Station and the extension district. The deployment of public institutions with large assets has already been completed in the first phase of the innovative city, and the second model of the innovative city is expected to focus on institutions that help research, development, and design for the future rather than on the size of companies.
Former Minister Kim decided to actively support the relocation of small and medium-sized enterprises and public institutions related to transportation, knowledge, and industry to Daejeon Station in Dong-gu, and public institutions related to science and technology to Daedeok District.
"If state-run companies that fit the characteristics of innovative cities are attracted, their influence on neighboring universities and industries will be considerable," he said. "Through Daedeok research complex's capabilities, it will become a mecca for the bio-industry." We will deploy institutions close to the future growth engines of Daejeon and the central region," he said.
In addition, Public Medical Center City Medical Center and Moon Jae-In Government for the public success of the child rehabilitation hospital, a presidential election pledge promised help for the seat. He also expressed his ambition to build a global innovation cluster that surpasses Pangyo Valley in the Seoul metropolitan area, create a Korean-style bio-centered city, and complete Silicon Valley in the central region linking Daejeon and Chungcheong provinces through the renovation of the Daedeok Special Zone.
At the end of the day, former Minister Kim strongly appealed that he is the right person for the job, saying, "I will definitely be the party leader responsible for next year's by-elections in Seoul and Busan, the 2022 presidential election, and the local elections."
He added, "It's difficult for a party leader to cross the line once. The party leader, who was elected this time, said, "We need to realize what the people want through a systematic program," and appealed for support, saying, "We will cooperate with Daejeon Mayor Huh Tae-Jung and each of the five district heads."
Currently, Kim is competing with Lee Nak-yeon for party leadership at the 8.29 Democratic National Convention.
